Vasiliy Sumin's practice (Krasnoyarsk-26) emerges at points where logic, language, or law cease to function, and it is there that he looks for new ways to speak. Born in Eastern Siberia and working at the intersection of multiple cultural and political systems, he occupies a position of border thinking: knowledge arises not from belonging but from the rupture between them. In each project he creates a new language, adequate to the specific subject and impossible beyond it, working across multichannel video and sound, sculpture, performance, and generative systems. His work has been shown internationally, including in Italy, France, South Korea, and Germany.

Antinomy (South Korea, 2024) connects the legacy of Japanese colonization and the memory of Hiroshima with the Soviet secret nuclear cities of the Cold War. His residency at ZKM | Karlsruhe, organized by Peter Weibel, led to his solo presentation The Resemblance to the Speech Will Be Erased, an installation combining multichannel video, sound, and sculpture. The project was later selected as a finalist for the Post-Diploma programme at Le Fresnoy, France (2024).

How to Receive the Answer? (2019) was developed in dialogue with astrophysicist Oleg Verkhodanov, Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. His debut project, Station YE5 (2018), realized at the Special Astrophysical Observatory of the Russian Academy of Sciences, was nominated for the Sergei Kuryokhin Prize (2019).

He studied at the Siberian State Aerospace University before moving to the Rodchenko Moscow Art School, in the media art studio of professor Alexei Shulgin and the electroacoustic studio of Andrey Smirnov.
